please post a link that say's Russia attacked Ukraine because they might join NATO.
Seems like Ukraines biggest push to join NATO was AFTER Russia TOOK Crimea.
- 2008: Ukraine formally requested the NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP).
- 2010: The process stalled under President Yanukovich, who did not support a NATO relationship.
- 2014-present: Following the Revolution of Dignity and the Russian annexation of Crimea, Ukraine has re-emphasized its NATO aspirations.
- 2017: Ukraine amended its constitution to include NATO membership as a strategic goal.
- 2022: Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, President Zelenskyy formally requested an accelerated accession to NATO.
----------------------------------------------------------Russian President Vladimir Putin has put out a list of demands for ending the
war in Ukraine — and they’re almost entirely unchanged from even before he launched his brutal invasion more than three years ago. The authoritarian wants a written letter by Western leaders that they
would not allow Ukraine to join NATO — a red line for the security alliance whose charter holds that any country can join if they are approved unanimously by its member states, three Russian sources told Reuters on Wednesday.Putin further wants NATO to disavow more expansion to the east, also barring Georgia and Moldova from joining the alliance.
